My Story

I love to create, innovate, and help others thrive. So fresh out of college, I hopped right into the fashion industry with my newly minted design degree and an overzealous amount of enthusiasm to do just that. It wasn’t long before I was traipsing around the streets of New York chasing fabric and deadlines to make those dreams and sketches a reality.

I learned how to think on my feet, solve problems with creativity, and reverse engineer the process to get results.

Things were going well. I was working on collections, planning for fashion week, and setting myself up for a long, successful career. There was only one problem: I was 25 going on 80. Or at least, that’s how I felt.

The deeper I got, the more I worked. With that came more stress, more sitting, more chronic pain, more injury, more coffee, and never enough sleep. Each day was met by a perpetual push to just get through another season, another crisis, another moral dilemma. I was exhausted. I realized, at my desk one 2:00 a.m. night, that my whole life had become a game of just-get-through-it. It was one of those ah-ha! moments that was both alarming and thought provoking.

I started to wonder how much damage the last few years of just-get-through-it had already done to my health and sanity. I became concerned about what another 20-30 years might do. For the first time, I asked myself two important questions, “What does work-life balance actually look like?” and “What does it mean to create a healthy lifestyle?” I did a lot more yoga. I looked at disease statistics and researched the long-term effects of chronic stress and sleep deprivation. Ultimately what I discovered was an unraveling of human health far beyond my own.

My experience appeared to be one small piece of a much bigger, frightening puzzle. If I kept going the way I was going, I was destined to be a statistic. I was already one of the 71% of US adults who could report feeling stressed, anxious, or overwhelmed on a regular basis. I was likely on deck to become one of the 6-in-10 Americans living with chronic disease, most of which is preventable. That was scary enough, but what perhaps struck me most was seeing the state of our nation’s health reflected in dollar signs. Over $3 trillion a year was, and still is, being spent on disease. $3 TRILLION! In that moment, I decided I would not allow the rest of my life to be a contribution to that investment. Instead, I would do everything in my power to invest in my own health and the health of others.

I was determined to change the status quo.

I started by making one positive shift at a time in my own life. I quit my job, left New York, and embarked on a new journey with yoga teacher training. I slept soundly for once in my adult life. I started teaching and did more things I enjoyed. I kept digging, researching, and replacing bad habits with better ones. I became really intentional about how I exercised, how I ate, and how I spent my time. I learned to set healthy boundaries and constantly worked on my state of mind. I picked up tools like meditation to help me manage stress. Finally, after much trial and error, I caught a glimpse of this thing called energy…I actually had some again!

Believe me…I spent just as many days getting it wrong as I did getting it right! I reassessed and started afresh over and over again. But over time, I learned how to maintain a balanced personal and professional routine that put my health first, filled me up, and enabled me to succeed with more energy and less stress. I then tapped into my own experience to develop a blueprint consisting of yoga, fitness, and meditation that my clients could use to do the same. KLG YOGA was built as a means to do exactly what I always wanted: create, innovate, and help others thrive.

When I say I want you to be able to live with more energy and less stress, I truly mean it! Why? Because I’ve lived at both ends of the spectrum and can tell you that low energy and high stress is absolutely no way to go through life!

I want you to feel like your best self, move like your best self, and do like your best self every single day!

Your shoulders and eyelids need not always be heavy. Instead, my hope for you is to always feel strong, agile, and empowered by your own body. When stress inevitably comes your way, I want you to be able to work through it without being ruled by it. I want you to have a life full of intention, where prioritizing your health becomes easily integrated into everything that you do. You deserve to live vibrantly, unencumbered by pain and disease. You deserve to feel like the best version of you.

Whatever your goals are, I absolutely want to see you succeed. Let’s work towards them together! Your best self is waiting…
